Over the past few weeks, I have been evaluating Nirmata with my esteemed peer, Joe Mann. From my purview, Nirmata provides an “easy” way for Kubernetes management. More importantly, they have written a UI plugin for VMware Cloud Director (VCD) that calls upon the Container Service Extension (CSE).
In this blog post, I’d like to summarize some of the unique functionality and my experience with Nirmata, CSE, and VCD. I believe this is extremely relevant for Cloud Providers and consumers of VCD.

In this post, I’m going to go through how to pair two brand new VMware vCloud Director (vCD) 10.0 instances using Postman. For this lab environment, I am using the generally available virtual appliances.
First, I wanted to call out a few things from Steve Dockar –

16Jan2020 – Upgrade to Diagram
As discussed previously in my What’s New with VMware vCloud Director 10.0 Series (Part 1 and Part 2), I was working on a diagram that reviews how the VMware vCloud Director 10.0 upgrade and migration workflow.
I used MindNode to complete this diagram. The diagram reviews if you choose to stay on the Linux and External PostgreSQL (PgSQL) path or consume the multi-faceted vCloud Director appliance.

Recently, I’ve had several providers that have had to manage and/or update their F5 iRules for secure accessibility for vCD tenants and providers. F5 has a nice deployment guide here.
F5 provides a solid solution for VIPs and Load Balancer capabilities which I see often between many of our global VMware Cloud Providers.
With the new vCD HTML5 User Interface (UI), there has been several changes that required these modifications to provide direct access.
Typically, when utilizing a F5 appliance, some providers and tenants were seeing errors after a vCD upgrade.
Some saw behavior where the H5 interface was not accessible – receiving a message such as:
