As we are approaching VMworld 2019 in San Francisco, I wanted to spend some time on what sessions and labs to review when attending VMworld.

The VMware Cloud Provider Program continues to grow exponentially and this year we have over 30 VMworld sessions that are focused on our VMware Cloud Providers. This is extremely exciting as we continue to see more of an emphasis on our great service providers and ensuring all VMware customers are aware of these strategic partnerships.
With that said, I’d like to highlight a few sessions that I believe will be important to watch live or catch the recording at a later time.
First off, our VCPP VMworld catalog is located here: https://my.vmworld.com/widget/vmware/vmworld19us/us19catalog?search.products=15615668180870019stm
One can also search for “VMware Cloud Provider Program” within the Catalog to view all of the affiliated sessions –

First up, something close to my heart, which is vCloud Director –
vCloud Director.Next : Deliver Cloud Services on Any VMware Endpoint [HBI2452BU]
It’s very important for all of our VMware Cloud Providers to understand where we are going with vCloud Director. Joe and Ari will do a great job with reviewing the next release of vCD while touching on how vCD has transformed into what I like to call a “Service Delivery Platform.” Just in the past 24 months, we have seen vCD evolve significantly –
Also check out John Dwyer‘s vCD specific sessions – he has several.
vRealize Operations for Cloud Providers [HBI1158BU]
vRealize Operations (vROps) is becoming increasingly important for Cloud Providers on ensuring optimal service delivery for tenant workloads. With the introduction and evolution of the vROps Tenant App for vCD (note it also works for vCenter environments too!), a provider can now present capacity, configuration, and health statistics along with chargeback/showback capabilities from a single plugin inside of vCloud Director (or using the standalone UI for vCenter environments).
Brandon Gordon and Joerg Lew will do an incredible job – I’ve seen some of this material already and they are some of top experts in this arena. I continue to use this in many of my productization discussions for vCD/vROps –
PowerShell and the vCloud Availability 3.0 API [VMTN5007U]
Jon Waite has provided a significant amount of collateral and PowerShell scripts for vCD and recently, vCloud Availability 3.0 (vCAv). As many of you are aware, vCAv provides self-service functionality for Disaster Recovery and Migration to a vCloud Director instance. I’m excited to see what Jon has to share during this session to continue to make vCAv more powerful for our providers. There are several sessions on vCAv 3.0, so please do review them further.
On another note, definitely check out TierPoint’s session on their experience with vCloud Availability! One Powerful Solution for Disaster Recovery and Cloud Migration [HBI1898PU]

Multi Cloud Services with VMware Cloud Provider Hub [MTE6035U]
While many companies are strategically aligning to a multi-cloud strategy, how can a VMware Cloud Provider provide VMware Cloud Services along with their own provider solutions? The Cloud Provider Hub is the solution set that encapsulates VMware Cloud on AWS, Log Intelligence, Cloud Health, WorkspaceONE, etc.
This is an important session that discusses our “asset-light” approach and how a VCPP provider can go to market with these services.
The Future of vSphere: What You Need To Know Now [HBI4937BU]
While this is not a VCPP-specific session, I think this will be extremely important for everyone to be aware of. I’ve had an initial peak of what we are doing here – it is mind-blowing. VMware continues to think outside of traditional virtual machine workloads while leading the market on where the industry is going. If you can’t make this session, don’t worry – I bet there’s going to be plenty of material on this topic.
VCPP Hands-On Lab
My colleague Eric Stine owns our VMware Hands-On Lab for VCPP. He’s been furiously working on updating it to vCD 9.7 and adding several goodies like multi-site, Cross-VDC networking, vCAv, vROps Tenant App, and so forth. He will have several live sessions to explore the VCPP HOL, but you can always check it in the Hands On Lab area at any time. Miscellaneous and Final Thoughts
While the above is not a comprehensive list of all of the VMworld VCPP sessions, please take a look as there’s been a significant amount of time and investment put into these sessions.
Shameless plug, I do have two sessions too! https://my.vmworld.com/widget/vmware/vmworld19us/us19catalog?search=daniel%20paluszek
Why Cloud Providers Choose VMware vCloud Director as Their Cloud Platform [HBI1453PU]
Architecting VMware Cloud Roundtable [HBI2615PU]
Last but not least, I would love to meet our Cloud Providers that will be in attendance. If you see me walking around, please do introduce yourself. I should also be at the vExpert party. See you at VMworld!
